Totally agree with you and your buddy David. We shouldn't leave tubes, C02 cartridges, gel packets, or anything else on the side of the road.

Very good points here. One thing I learned in the Boy Scouts, and still follow to this day, is the Caver's Creed. It doesn't just apply to spelunking, but it's also relevant in nearly any activity.

Take nothing but pictures,
Leave nothing but footprints,
Kill nothing but time.

Happy riding,
Chad

I couldnt agree more! If you had the room to bring a spare tube with you, then you have the room to take the old one back with you too, its not rocket science is it. When I replace a tube I screw up the old one and shove it in the space the spare was occupying in the saddle bag then discard or patch at home.

Same goes for energy bars and whatnot. Its not difficult to just shove the empty wrapper into a jersey pocket after eating the contents. An empty wrapper takes up less space than the bar did to begin with.

There really is no excuse for littering. I too have seen a few spare tubes about and it annoys me a lot.

Random tip: I keep those snack-sized plastic bags for storing my wrappers and stuff, so that any remaining goo doesn't squeeze out all over my trunk bag or pocket.
